CHURCH MARKETING GUIDE
Is your church ready for Google Ad Grants?
Before applying or hiring someone to manage an account, decide what a useful visitor should do on your website—and who will maintain the program after setup.
THE STARTING POINT
Ad Grants is an advertising program, separate from SEO. Eligibility, website quality, and ongoing account requirements all matter. Approval is not automatic, and an available advertising allowance is not cash, guaranteed traffic, or a promise of attendance.
Check eligibility with Google first
Use Google for Nonprofits’ current country-specific eligibility requirements. In the United States, Google says a church’s automatic tax-exempt status alone is not sufficient: it must have the required IRS recognition and be listed in the relevant IRS database.
The rules and documentation can change. Confirm them directly before paying for application work. Avandria is independent of Google and cannot approve an application or guarantee acceptance.
Prepare a useful destination
Google’s Ad Grants website policy calls for a website you control with substantial, original information, clear purpose, usable navigation, and secure pages. A thin page built only to collect details is a weak starting point.
For a church, we suggest reviewing the actual visitor experience: who you are, where you meet, what happens at a service, how to ask a question, and how current events are maintained. Clear information helps a real person decide whether a next step is relevant.
Choose meaningful goals before keywords
Pick actions that match the church’s purpose and the page being advertised: submitting a genuine question, registering for an open community event, or requesting information about a ministry. Make sure somebody owns the response.
Keep measurements honest. A click on a contact link, a completed registration, and an actual visit are different events. Decide what you can reliably record before interpreting advertising reports.
Separate application help from ongoing management
Ask a provider to explain what happens after account approval. Who checks search terms, updates ads when an event ends, reviews destination pages, and diagnoses missing conversions? Who keeps the account aligned with current program rules?
A useful proposal separates eligibility review, website changes, account setup, measurement, and ongoing management. Bring an existing account’s current issues to the first conversation; do not assume a new website or a new application is the answer.
Common questions
Does enabling an API activate Ad Grants?
No. Enabling a Google API is a technical project setting. Ad Grants eligibility, application, account approval, and campaign configuration are separate steps.
Will this improve our organic Google rankings?
Advertising and organic search are different channels. Work on useful website content and technical SEO separately, and report each channel clearly.
Can every church apply?
Eligibility depends on the organization, country, and Google’s current requirements. Review the official requirements before assuming your church qualifies.
Can Avandria help us decide where to start?
We can review your website, the visitor journey, and your reporting needs in a discovery call. Any application or campaign management work must be separately agreed in the project scope.
